A $2 million boost for orphans and vulnerable children in Mozambique
USAID has awarded a nearly $2 million grant to Habitat for Humanity Mozambique to help provide shelter and support for children left orphaned by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. On a continent devastated by AIDS, Mozambique has been hit especially hard: According to the United Nations, this country has an estimated 400,000 children who have lost a parent or guardian to the disease.

Time for leaders to recharge batteries and move forward
Habitat for Humanity Africa/Middle East hosted its annual finance and leadership conference recently in Benoni, South Africa. Nearly 90 national directors and finance leaders from throughout the area attended, focusing on the theme “Leading Change and Achieving Scale.”

Changing lives, transforming a community in Lesotho
All Habitat homeowners have compelling stories of overcoming obstacles and finding new hope in a safe, secure dwelling. On a hillside in Khubelu, in the small nation of Lesotho, 143 partner families have moved into sturdy brick, tin-roofed houses, surrounded by neatly plowed gardens and colorful flower beds, transforming a forbidding landscape and creating a real community.
