Making An Impact Across The Asia-Pacific Region

|
Every day an estimated 152 families around world have a better life thanks to the work of Habitat for Humanity, its volunteers and partners.
Habitat began working in the Asia-Pacific region in 1983 with a pilot program in Khammam, India. Since then, Habitat has built and rehabilitated approximately 86,000 homes and served an estimated 430,000 people around the region (as of June 2009).
Every year, tens of thousands of families are helped to acquire new homes or rehabilitate or repair existing ones, as well as to access financial and technical assistance. Many thousands benefit from rebuilding programs following natural and man-made disasters. Up to 23,000 families have benefited to date from on-going Habitat programs to help victims of the 2004 Asian tsunami.
Habitat for Humanity helped an estimated 27,600 families in the Asia-Pacific region in the year to June 2009. That means every 19 minutes an Asian or a Pacific family has a better life thanks to Habitat for Humanity, its volunteers and partners.
