'The best thing you could ever do'

Joyce Lee, a registered nurse from Jackson, Miss., is volunteering her time on the Operation Home Delivery build site this week providing first aid and a friendly smile. Joyce got involved with Habitat for Humanity through her job at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. Every year the hospital’s staff members build a Habitat house with a partner family—sometimes even one of their own employees.

Joyce Lee, a registered nurse, volunteered her first-aid skills on the Jackson, Miss., build site for Operation Home Delivery. She removes a splinter—a work site hazard—from volunteer Kevin Zwadi's finger.

When she found out that Metro Jackson Habitat for Humanity was looking for nurses to provide first-aid support for this week’s Operation Home Delivery build, Lee knew that this was her opportunity to help the rebuilding effort along the Gulf Coast.

“Everybody needs a place to live. Everybody needs a house,” she says.

Whether she is administering first aid or swinging a hammer, Lee has discovered the rewards of volunteering with Habitat for Humanity:

“This is the best thing you could ever do,” she says.
