Please read the following information before clicking the application link at the bottom of the page:

The purpose of Global Village trips
The ultimate goal of Global Village trips is to further Habitat for Humanity International’s mission to eliminate poverty housing worldwide. Global Village participants do this by

  • Lending a helping hand to those in need of simple, decent shelter.
  • Donating valuable funds to Habitat programs around the world.
  • Learning about the global need for cross-cultural understanding and simple, decent, affordable housing.
  • Learning about new paradigms in the delivery of affordable housing that address the magnitude of the problem and the availability of resources.
  • Becoming long-term advocates for affordable housing.

Trip costs and payments
The estimated costs below do not include air fare, baggage insurance, extended recreational activities or visa and exit fees (if applicable).

  • International trips: Costs range from US$1,200 to US$3,200.
Includes meals, accommodations, in-country transportation, travel medical and emergency evacuation insurance, trip cancellation insurance, team materials and a donation to the Habitat host program and Habitat for Humanity International.
  • United States trips: Costs range from US$900 to US$1,900.
Includes room and board, travel insurance and a donation to the host community’s building program.
  • Payment Policies
Before submitting an application, please read Payment Policies and Procedures. You will need to have the free Adobe Reader installed on your computer to view this file.

Participants under the age of 18
Depending on local laws and program policy, some host programs may not accept minors or may limit the type of work performed by minors. In every case, the Global Village team leader will ultimately determine whether or not to invite an unaccompanied minor to join his or her team.

  • International trips: All participants must be at least 14-years-old. They must be accompanied by a legal guardian or be part of an established group.
  • United States and Canada trips: All participants must be at least 14-years-old. Minors 16 or older can participate unescorted, with guardian and team leader permission.

Health and safety

  • Work assignments normally involve strenuous physical activity―sometimes at high altitudes. Team members must be in good physical health.
  • International travel always contains some degree of danger. Global Village team members participate at their own risk.

Passports

  • International trips: You will need a current passport that is valid for six months beyond your travel dates.
  • A note about passport processing times: To ensure you receive your passport by your Global Village trip departure, allow approximately 20 weeks for passport applications (both new and renewal.) We also recommend asking for expedited service when applying for passports. Expedited service does have a higher cost.
