How Habitat affiliates can participate

Build more homes with Women Build
The Women Build program helps affiliates build more homes by recruiting women and girls. Women represent a tremendous volunteer pool. Women Build houses provide an opportunity for women to learn construction skills while working on construction crews composed predominantly of women.

Women Build offers comprehensive training and hands-on construction experience for women. Female volunteers often become long-term, committed affiliate volunteers and crew leaders. Women who have learned skills through Women Build are regularly found on Habitat builds, helping others build decent, affordable housing.

More than 1,500 Habitat houses have been built by women crews in communities around the world. This number grows each year as affiliates, donors and sponsors recognize the impact of women volunteers and their resources.

Habitat’s Women Build department provides everything an affiliate needs to complete a successful Women Build project:

• T-shirts and hats

The Women Build department keeps track of Women Build events around the country. We also maintain a database of skilled volunteer trainers and construction workers who can assist Women Build projects. For more information about these resources, please contact womenbuild@habitat.org.

Women Build Global Village trips
These trips pair women across the globe with women from host countries. Together they challenge poverty housing at the street level and train local women to continue building after the Women Build volunteers are gone. Leadership training
Habitat for Humanity International’s Women Build department also offers several hands-on Leadership Training sessions each year. Affiliates can send their staff or volunteers to these weeklong trainings – or even consider hosting one of the sessions.
