Kids speaking out against poverty
Act! Speak! Build! Week is a student-initiated week of advocacy on behalf of Habitat for Humanity and housing issues. Act! Speak! Build! Week empowers young people to educate themselves and their communities and move people to social action. Young people ages 5 to 25 work in partnership with local affiliates to plan and host events focused on ending poverty housing.
You can organize an Act! Speak! Build! Week any time during the year. Many groups choose to organize their week around World Habitat Day, the first Monday in October. Groups from affiliates, chapters, schools and various other organizations have all organized an Act! Speak! Build! Week. Build louder!
Kids 5–8 can get involved in Act! Speak! Build Week by creating messages to share with their communities, decorating a classroom bulletin board or writing letters to their governor, house representative, senators and local newspaper editors. See the resources below to learn more!
“All people deserve a home and should have a good life. Even kids can make a difference.”
